It was love at first scent. Bewitching Kiss did not merely charm me—it claimed me, utterly and without warning. This is not just a floral vanilla; it is far more.

Under the moonlight
A kiss became
A perfume.
Haiku by Nela Dinescu, 2025
When perfumes transform into mystery—into pure emotion—into moments that cannot be forgotten, only embraced, adored, revived… again and again and again.
When perfumes whisper to you of dreams and grand visions, of a love once lost and found again, of a stolen kiss you long to relive—again and again and again.
These are the moments that make up life. The moments that bring you alive, that stir and inspire you, that lean close to your ear and whisper:
“Moments do not leave, my dear—they remain for eternity.”
But to find them, you must journey into your soul and seek the emotions you wish to awaken—and how better to do that than with the help of a perfume?
There are perfumes with a soul, and perfumes to which you give a soul. But how can you tell the difference?
Perfumes with a soul are those perfectly aligned with your desires and emotions, promising you unforgettable moments together. You recognize them from the very first spray—you know instantly that they are love at first scent.
These are the perfumes that make you smile, that merge with your own essence, allowing you to be yourself—but with something more.
The perfumes you give a soul to are those that you imbue with value, memories, and emotion as you wear them—but perhaps they were not to your taste at first; you didn’t resonate, and there was no coup de foudre amoureux from the very beginning
And this is why I began with that introduction—because I blind-bought a perfume based solely on its notes. I knew I would like it, but I had no idea just how much! It seemed like the kind of floral scent, perhaps with a hint of vanilla.
But it bewitched me from the very first spray. And no, don’t think it was because of the name—Bewitching Kiss—no, no. It was entirely due to its unreal beauty.
I melted into it on a night with an almost full moon, when silver beams lit my freshly perfumed skin. My first thought was, “What an impossibly beautiful night,” and in my ears still echoed the solemn notes of Clair de Lune. When I lifted my wrist to inhale, it was the perfect moment—that sensation of bliss, reverie, and sheer pleasure.
Bewitching Kiss enchanted me from the first moment—it was love at first scent. Because it is not just a floral vanilla—it is so much more than that.
The opening is almondy and creamy, with hints that recall creamy lipstick, powder, and sweet, vanilla-kissed makeup.
I adore this kind of lipstick-and-powder scent—it feels so airy, graceful, and feminine that it effortlessly steals a smile from my lips.
It unfolds into juicy, floral-fruity notes of bitter orange, orange blossom, and blackberry, through which the gentle nuances of licorice and blackcurrant quietly weave their way.
The heart is purely floral: almost translucent jasmine and a delicate rose, as soft and fine as pink silk.
The base is creamy, smooth, velvety, and sweet, so that the other notes seem to sink into it like a fine, ethereal, transparent powder that radiates sweetness, tenderness, and delicacy.
Vanilla, sandalwood, heliotrope, tonka bean, musk, and cedar—delicate notes that whisper in your ear of femininity, grace, and radiant beauty.
Bewitching Kiss is that baiser volé—but not just any stolen kiss. It is the secret of a shy love, perhaps adolescent, a love just beginning to bloom, slowly unfurling as emotions allow themselves to be and souls begin to vibrate in unison.
A candid kiss, yet full of grace—the kind of grace found only in true love—that shyness melting into the passion of a night you never wish to forget, a night you long to keep in your heart for eternity.
Under the moonlight, you are bewitched by your lover’s kiss and by the tenderness of a perfume that, years from now, will evoke memories beyond price.
Thank you, Nela, for such a heartfelt and beautiful article, and for capturing the moment so perfectly in your photograph.
