MAIKA ELAN

Maika, a Vietnamese photographer, discovered her passion for photography after studying sociology at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Since 2006, she has been capturing daily life using various cameras and began collaborating with editorial clients and fashion firms in Vietnam. In an age where digital cameras provide more room for trial-and-error, practicality, and perfection, Maika chooses to find beauty in the imperfections with the unique style of Lomography, documenting a moment of today through a lens of yesterday. Seeing the “intangible” and the beauty of the invisible, she is an old-soul thriving within the fast and digital, a photographer explores the hidden world of the hikikomori, and the human bonds that draw them out.

It contributes to a natural flow that helps society become more balanced when there are people who dare ignore all the rules and instead live up to their personal preferences.
